Course Description

Too Hot For Tots! Module 2 expands on the preceding module, providing scientific and health based information about thermal injuries. Risk factors and prevention strategies for hot beverage and hot tap water scalds as well as hot surface burns are covered. Six recommended steps of first aid for a burn are explained.

Module 1 is a prerequisite for this module.

Trainer Frances MacDougall, R.N.

Frances MacDougall is a registered nurse and the creator of the Too Hot for Tots! Program.After working on the burn unit at BC Children’s Hospital for 18 years and hearing parents and caregivers say they were not aware of the burn hazards in their home or how seriously their children could be injured, Frances developed Too Hot for Tots! to address this knowledge gap.Over the past two decades, Frances has presented at local, national and international conferences sharing her unique knowledge and understanding of this issue with parents, educators and special interest groups.Just recently, in December, 2018, Frances was honoured with the Excellence in Nursing Advocacy Award from the Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC (NNPBC) for her role in raising awareness about burn prevention.    https://burnfund.org/
