Course Description

Compassion Fatigue refers to the profound emotional and physical exhaustion that helping professionals and caregivers can develop over the course of their career. It is a gradual erosion of all the things that keep us connected to others: our empathy, our hope, and of course our compassion - not only for others but also for ourselves. Compassion fatigue has also been described as the “cost of caring" for others in emotional pain

I thought it described what working in this everyday world to a tee. There was excellent ideas of how to deal with the stress of working outside our homes. I also learned that even though we care more for the people that we work with that i have to start to care more for myself. I need to learn to stop and smell the flowers. Thanks again for the lesson :)
